COVID-19: Ghana and rest of Africa losing out of air transport business despite global recovery

Ghana’s borders remain closed. This is because right from the beginning, it was observed that the early cases of COVID-19 recorded in the country were imported. Other countries on the African continent did same and are paying the price. The latest figures released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), shows that Africa is losing out from the continuous closure of the borders. For instance, African airlines’ traffic sank 98.7 per cent in April, nearly twice as bad as the 49.8 per cent demand drop in March. Capacity contracted 87.7 per cent, and load factor dived 65.3 percentage points to just 7.7 per cent of seats filled, lowest among regions. GFA executives visit Graphic Communications Group

Executives of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, paid a working visit to the Graphic Communications Group Limited as part of the federation’s efforts in building a healthy relationship with both private and public sectors. The GFA Executives were led by President Kurt E. S OKraku, Vice-President Mark Addo and Executive Council Member Dr. Toni Aubynn. Also in attendance were Mr. Ato Afful, Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Maurice Quansah, Editor in Chief of Graphic Sports and other management embers. Majority leader to go unopposed as NPP’s NEC clears 106 aspirants in Ashanti region

Among the candidates is the Majority leader and Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonu who is going unopposed. This was contained in a statement signed by Ashanti Regional Secretary, Sam Pyne. The candidates were approved after 10 days of thorough vetting of all the aspiring parliamentary candidates in Ashanti Region. “The 106 candidates include: 12 females and 94 males. Five aspiring candidates voluntarily withdrew from the contest and nine were rejected for various legitimate reasons” the statement said.
